RESEARCH PROPOSAL

You are so lucky you got into this page! Here is an outline of a research proposal. Hope you enjoyed...(For more detailed discussion, go to http://www2.hawaii.edu/~matt/proposal.html" .

The (Longer) Standard Model

The two outlines below are intended to show both what are the standard parts of a proposal and of a science paper. Notice that the only real difference is that you change "expected results" to "results" in the paper, and usually leave the budget out, of the paper.

A Basic Proposal Outline:
Introduction
 Topic area
 Research question
 Significance to knowledge
Literature review
 Previous research
  others & yours
 Interlocking findings and Unanswered questions
Your preliminary work on the topic
The remaining questions and inter-locking logic
Reprise of your research question(s) in this context
Methodology
 Approach
 Data needs
 Analytic techniques
 Plan for interpreting results
Expected results
Budget

Good Luck!!!
